Well Dedication Ceremony
Sandema, Ghana
On January 7th, people gathered from all over to celebrate the dedication of a well in Sandema, Ghana.
This hand dug well is just one of the many wells the Hand Dug Well Project has produced.
This project not only gives Ghanaians healthy and clean drinking water, but also educates them
regarding latrines, etc. Over 140 wells have been dug with this SIM project.
Teresa visits with Karen as we wait for the festivities to start. Karen, is an SIM missionary who served in Ghana for 20 years.
Karen and her neice were back for a visit, and we were able to spend a lot of time with them.

Here come the local drummers and whistlers.
The well (foreground), and the local drummers start dancing in a circle as they
jump start the well dedication.
The drummers and whistlers are calling people with their drums to come and dance from the crowd.

And come they did!
Ed Wormald, an SIM Missionary who was serving here in Sandema 8 years ago, gives the
traditional dance a try. Ed took a team from his church in Virginia back to
Sandema for a few weeks to help serve.
