Shea Nut Butter...My Turn!
Chiana, Ghana
A co-op has been started among the women of Chiana. Their business? Shea Nut Butter.
They get together to make the butter and off to market they go, making a profit for their families.
These ladies sure sounded like they were having a great time working together. Of course I couldn't
understand a word they were saying, but that was my guess! ;)
I had seen the Shea Butter process before, but this time I thought I would give it a try!
One of the women has begun the mixing process.
Another woman is stirring the mixture over the fire.
Here I go!
You know, they have this little rhythm that they do when mix this butter, but
I just couldn't find it!

...and just guess what everyone else was doing...
It is really hard work to mix that, and quite amazing that it turns out white!
My hands and arms were so nicely moisturized for the rest of the day, I should have
mixed it with my legs! ;)
This is George. George works with Sister Pat here in Chiana. He wanted a picture
of him and his wife, so they got all dressed up in their nice clothes. After the picture
was done, he was having a normal conversation with a neighbor and I just kept taking
pictures of him- I couldn't help myself, he was looking so...African! Once he realized it,
he started laughing and said, "why are you still snapping!?!?!"
Thanks George!
