Elmina Slave Castle

View of Cape Coast from the top of the Elmina Slave Castle. It was market day, so there were many people out on their fishing boats.

View from inside some of the cells and dungeons that the slaves were kept in. They could be kept in these rooms for three months without
any freedom to even use a restroom, so you can imagine the stench they had to live with.

This is the actual slave exiting door in which they would allow one slave out at a time to board the boat.

These are two dungeons, the one on the right wasnicely ventilated and used for soldiers who were out of line, drunk, etc. The one on the left
(notice the skull above the door) is for the slaves who were brought in and left to die. At times they would bring in 25 people and would not even
open the door until the last person had died. It is not ventilated at all, and is basically a black hole.

The sun dial outside of Elmina Slave Castle.

View from outside of the castle, the ocean is to the right of me, and also on the other side of the castle.
