BCA Pastor's Conference

Sandema, Ghana

From January 3-7th, I was photographing the annual Pastor's conference in Sandema, Ghana.

Pastor Joe Holman from the Blue Ridge Baptist Church in Virginia was the main speaker for the week.
Let me tell you, he was the king of illustrations! He did a great job!

This is Sister Rose. Let me tell you why I like her- I think she is
so beautiful, and her personality is wonderful, kind and funny, but I also
like her because she speaks Twi- way up in the North! So I try to have a
conversation in Twi with her everytime I see her. Rose is one of the main
leaders of the Woman's Ministry in the BCA.

During one of the breaks I was walking around gathering shots of different pastors-
here are two of my favorites.

During the conference there was a lot of praising the Lord filled with singing and dancing.
There is an on-going joke about which language is going to be spoken in heaven, so every
language group would get to choose which song they wanted to sing in their language, which would lead
to the punch line... "B/c that is the language that we will speak in heaven!"

This is Abukari, one of my favorite people I have met here in Ghana. Abukari is a BCA pastor
and has been married for six years to a Dutch woman, have one son, who is six months old.
He and his wife have quite a story to tell, which includes a plane crash three days after
their wedding on thier way to their honeymoon! He was thrown from the plane and caught a
glimpse of his wife's leg just before the bulldozer was going to drop some wreckage on top of her.
Here I was eating supper with Abukari a couple of months ago, just crying over my chicken and rice as
he is telling this amazing story!

Speaking of chicken...we both LOVE it! So whenever we are at the same conference or meeting,
we try and get together to eat some chicken :)

Abukari and his wife (who does Bible translation) are doing amazing things for God!

Both of these lovely SIM Missionaries arrived in Ghana in 1980!
There were five single gals who all arrived at the same time,
three of which are still serving in Ghana.
