Ostrich Farm
Another project I photographed is Ostrich meat. There are hopes to gain about 30 ostriches and sell them to local
farmers as breeding pairs. Ostrich meat is very lean and much cheaper than beef, pork or turkey.
The farm is 40 acres large.
Hmmm... whatcha got there?
I don't think he likes to get his picture taken either!
It was humorous to me because the night before we watched the movie, "Swiss Family Robinson."
I don't know if you have ever seen it, but there is a scene where they try riding an ostrich- so here I am the
very next morning with my opportunity. I asked the care taker if he had ever tried, and he said no, so I figured I better not
either. :) But I can imagine a 100mph ride on the back of an ostrich would be quite a ride!
I was surprised at how curious the females were. This one kept checking me out closer and closer until she decided to
take a shot at my camera!
