Tassa Ibrahim

This is the man who served me my first cup of Nigerian tea.. out in the bush at Tassa Ibrahim.
I think I found a nation that puts as much sugar in its tea as I do!

Bush Technology? As much as I would like to say this picture is true, it is not.
This man is talking on a broken cell phone, (cell coverage doesn't reach this far out) pretending to call up President Bush to ask him
how many babies his goat had this morning!

Watering time at the well.

The wells here are incredibly deep, so they use teams of animals, donkeys or oxen, to help pull up the water bags full of water. This is a lot of work, and the animals get water once a day.

They use a pully system. First they drop the water bag down, then try and grab as
much water as they can by pulling back and forth on the rope. The man almost laying on the ground in the above picture is doing this. He goes up and down 4-5 times until the bag is full and
then he tells the team of animals to begin pulling it back up.

This is a typical water bag which they fill. Once full they bring it out to holding tanks for
either their animals to drink from, or they fill jugs to bring home for their personal usage.

As I was watching them draw water, I looked over to see one man had laid his sword
on the ledge while he worked. So very interesting to me that they carry these!
