Out in the Bush
I was able to stay for a while with an SIM missionary named Sonja, from Switzerland.
Sonja has been a missionary for twenty some years, all the while living in the bush among
the Fulani people. Her primary ministry is teaching the children how to read and write.
Here is Sonja with the children.
This woman's patience is amazing. She begins class at 7 am, takes a lunch break,
and finishes around 6:30 pm. Currently she is teaching five different groups throughout that day.

This was my home for those days. Sonja stays in a mud hut, but it is too small to hold
myself and the other girl along, so we stayed in tents in our little compound marked off by thorns.
We set up a small little "spot-a-pot" for our toilet, and as for showers, we were allotted a
very small bucket each day... about 6 inches tall, 5 inches wide.

The people and children are very beautiful.

Watering time at the well again.

Check out the sheep- he's looking at the man like, "I get some of that, right?"
Someone needs a break!

Typical thorn tree. These trees are EVERYWHERE... and these thorns
will poke through your shoe all day long!
