MIDP- Acacia Project

Here the farmers gather for their lesson on how to properly plant an Acacia tree
within their millet crop. The Acacia tree returns so many proper nutrients into
the soil, creating a better millet crop.

The trees need to be planted ten paces apart.

After one is planted, the farmers get to try on their own.

This man works with SIM, and also does a radio program each week,
sharing which village he will be visiting that week, and what steps they
need to have completed. He then interviews them, learning their concerns, problems and successes.

Acacia trees not only return nutrients into the soil, but their nuts are sold for a decent profit,
and are a great source of protien, which lacks in the Nigeriens diet. It also produces enough
wood to be sold for extra income.
