Danja Hospital-Leprosarium

If referred to a doctor, possibly you would be sent to SIM missionary doctor, Dr. Mark Griffith,
from New Zealand, one of the two doctors at Danja Hospital.
Because so many patients with leprosy lose their toes or their feet are deformed, Danja
Hospital has its own shoe maker. They will take a mold of the patients feet, and make shoes
specifically to fit that patient, making sure the sole is thick enough to prevent thorns or
other sharp objects to penetrate their feet. This is very important considering they have
lost their sense of feeling in their feet, so if they were injured they would not be aware of it.
Danja Hospital also has a great program going on where they train the patients in a certain
job or skill, in order for them to still make a living while suffering from leprosy. Many
employees of the hospital were once patients themselves.
The hospital also has many acres of farm land surrounding it, and they teach
the patients how to farm, and allow them to farm the land for income.
A nurse fills his syringe while Dr. Ibrahim performs a hernia surgery.
This is one of my favorite shots- the OR assistant stands nearby ready to swat any flies
that may be in the way of Dr. Ibrahim!
We all laughed after I took this shot!
