Fourth week of language study almost over. Craziness. It is amazing how fast the time goes. Makes me a little sad that I will be leaving here in four weeks, leaving Teacha Yow, the Dutchies, people cooking for me! :) But it makes me excited about what will come next! Sherri and I are taking a trip to Accra this weekend, and will travel back to Abetifi on Monday, Lord willing. We are very excited for a break, and even more excited about going out for pizza! It will be nice just to get away for a couple days. Today we went to town and visited the market, we walked around and talked with people. One thing I really enjoy about the African culture is the fact that people have time to sit and visit. You will not find someone who says, "I'm sorry but I have to go, I'm late." You are free to walk all around, greeting people and sitting down to visit them. I also chuckle inside while walking to see someone who is in charge of a store just sleeping on a bench outside waiting for a customer. I instantly thought of my last job at Hills Portrait Studio, and what my boss would do if he walked in to see us all laying on the floor sleeping. Wouldn't that be a sight! But then again there was never any time to sit around at that job either! Every couple of days I will just stop what I am doing, stand there, look around, and think to myself, "I am living in Africa! Really, I am!" Sometimes it is such a crazy thought. But I enjoy it. I enjoy the fact that you never know what is going to happen next. Every taxi ride is an adventure, whether it be the driving, how many people they will stuff into the car, or what you will see on your journey! I thank God for diversity! |
You may not see this sign everyday back in the states, but it is everywhere here! |
