Frequently asked questions....

What have I been up to?

Well, since the end of October I have been travelling between Accra and Tamale, capturing and documenting different ministries that SIM is involved in. After doing so I take those pictures and information and make them into either videos or brochures or some sort of publication to help promote that particular ministry.

What do my days look like?

If I am in Accra, I am usually in the office working on the videos, editing, and designing of the publications. I also visit my "customers" and run my drafts by them, making any necessary changes they would like.
When not in Accra, I spend my day travelling to different sites whether it be schools, churches, Training Institutes, health facilities, plots of land, and try to get a good grasp on the ministry to photograph it accordingly.

What is the time difference?

From the Central time zone, it is six hours different- so when it is 12 noon in Iowa, it is 6 pm in Ghana.

Where do I stay?

When I am in Accra I stay with Ruby, the SIM Director. She has a three bedroom house attached to the office, which she also shares with her niece Sherri, so she graciously offers me the third bedroom.

When I am not in Accra it changes from staying with other SIM missionaries, to a Guesthouse in the area. I was able to stay with an African family for a few days, which was wonderful.

What do I miss?

Besides family and friends, I miss being able to unpack my things and keep them there for longer than 2 weeks! And of course little things like my mom's Sunday dinners, (ok maybe all of my mom's food), being able to watch the Vikings play, and Pizza Ranch Pizza.

(for those of you who know me well... you probably thought I would say wearing pants! But believe it or not, I don't even think about it- in fact, if I am wearing just athletic shorts and a t-shirt, I feel very "exposed".

Biggest Struggle?

Hmmm.... trying to remember Twi, living out of a suitcase... and hard drive space!

My conclusion?

I love it.
Yes there are days when all I want to do is lay on a couch and eat a pepperoni pizza, but I like it here, and have no doubt in my mind that I am exactly where God wants me to be!
